In the print edition of last Sunday’s Philadelphia Inquirer, a story about the transportation of crude oil along the Schuylkill River (via train) featured a photo of a biker sporting a familiar shirt.
This isn’t the first time our bike-to-work cohort was featured in the press; Technical.ly Philly mentioned it in an article about our office space published last August..
Another fun fact about Monetate’s staff: many of them bike to the Conshohocken office from Philadelphia, sometimes as a group. It takes roughly the same amount of time as taking SEPTA, said developer Anthony So. Five of the nine members on So’s team ride to the office at least once a week, if not every day.
“I think it’s something to be proud of culture-wise,” So said. “It’s been a great way to get to know my teammates better and to curtail the effects of the abundant snacks in the kitchen.”
Plus, if the bike ride gets staffers sweaty, they can use the shower in the office.
A non-scientific survey of Monetate employees, conducted via a late-afternoon post on Slack, indicated that “20 or 30 [Monetate employees bike to work] with varied frequency.”
I counted five bikes in the office today, not including the one with a missing saddle.
