Here’s hoping that 2011 is a truly great year for you, your family, and the whole wide world. Yes, I know an opening sentence like that is short on marketing-related keywords and I’m probably not going to score many SEO points with this post. But sometimes a blog post just has to say what needs to be said, and I think the first post of the year should wish everyone a Happy New Year!
Of course, January is a time to look back as well as forward, and I’d have to say that 2010 was a pretty good year for Monetate. We tripled our work force, moved into bigger offices, added two genuine industry thought-leaders to our board of advisors, added a great new board member, closed a major round of financing, and more than doubled our customer base.
Speaking of customers, most of Monetate’s current customers are retailers and, with the 2010 holiday shopping season looking to go down as the best on record, I think it’s fair to say that 2010 was a good year for Monetate customers. One Monetate customer in particular, QVC, achieved some very impressive results in 2010, including the highest traffic day in the 14-year history of its website, QVC.com.
On Cyber Monday 2010, QVC.com attracted 2 million sessions from more than 1.4 million unique visitors. To put those numbers in perspective, QVC.com normally generates about a third of QVC’s orders, but on Cyber Monday 2010 it accounted for almost half of QVC’s total U.S. sales for the day. That 1.4 million number broke the previous record of more than 1 million unique visitors set on Cyber Monday 2009 (and I’m proud to report that Monetate served up multiple, simultaneous tests and campaigns on both of those Cyber Mondays, all without a hitch).
QVC scored another impressive result when ForeSee Results released its E-Retail Satisfaction Index last week and QVC.com scored 84. To put that satisfaction score of 84 in context you really need to read the entire report, which is well worth downloading. But here’s the short version: The highest score by any retailer was 86 and 84 was the second highest score. Talk about satisfying!
So, in 2011 we resolve to help all our customers set new records. Here’s to a very satisfying, very record-breaking year!
(And if you’ve got some marketing records in your sights this year, leave a comment and let me know. Remember what those high paid life coaches always say: Sharing a goal helps you meet that goal.)
