Several members of Team Monetate will be in Chicago this week at the world’s largest event for Internet retailers: IRCE (as is “Internet Retailer Conference and Exposition” opening today at the McCormick center).
Success at trade shows often hinges on what you do before you get there. When you’re prepping for an event like this it’s important to make sure everyone is “on message.” At high traffic trade shows it’s just not possible to show off every feature of every product to everyone who stop by your booth.
So we decided to focus on 3 features at IRCE that are unique to the Monetate Real-time Marketer product, things we can do for online retailers that nobody else can. Our feature picks went out in a news release but I will be going into more detail about the dynamic trio here on the blog:
Dynamic Badging: This feature allows you to add eye-catching badges like “Top Seller” to product shots in your online store search results and on other pages, without having to make any changes to the product images themselves.
Dynamic Text: This refers to the ability to generate website content in real time with segment-specific variables. For example, shoppers visiting your website from Chicago might be shown a banner reading “Chicago’s Best Source for Online Values” but visitors from San Francisco would see “San Francisco’s Best Source for Online Values” and so on. There is only one banner; it’s content is automatically changed to reflect what we know about the visitor.
Dynamic Overlay: This feature uses hover-based overlays to reveal useful information to online shoppers—like product details and cart content—without the shopper having to navigate away from the current web page. For example, you can set this up so that when a customer wants to check what items they have placed in their cart and they move the mouse pointer over the cart icon, a list of cart contents appears, overlaid on the current page.
These features not only help online stores look better, they help them work better, typically producing significantly higher conversion rates and increasing average order values. The magic is that marketers using Monetate Real-time Marketer can do all of the above without a single phone call to the IT department.
We will be posting some screen shots and more specific examples of these features in action in future posts—if you have ideas for how these features could be used, please leave us a comment.
